Who we are
Institut Nòrdic is the first school specialized in teaching Nordic languages: Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, and Icelandic.
After four decades of experience, we have developed a philosophy and work methodology based on quality, with the aim of turning any student into a confident communicator in the language they are studying.
Our Mission
The goal of Institut Nòrdic is for students to speak, write, understand, and think in the language they are studying, whether it’s Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, or Icelandic.
Our courses are an organized way of learning languages, taking care of every detail.
Our Story
Scandinavian Club of Barcelona
The origins of Institut Nòrdic date back to 1927, when the Scandinavian Club of Barcelona (CEB) was founded, a cultural association and meeting point for Nordic residents in Catalonia.
Start of courses
The cultural work of the CEB was completed in 1981 with the start of Swedish courses, followed by Danish, Norwegian, and Finnish.
Constitution of Institut Nòrdic
In 2012, the course offerings expanded with the incorporation of Icelandic and the establishment of Institut Nòrdic as a language academy specialized in Nordic languages.
Adapting to the Changing Times
We adapted our in-person classes to an online format so we could continue supporting our students during the pandemic.
Internationalization
We are committed to a 100% online approach and welcome students from all over the world.
Expansion
Currently, more than 400 students from over 10 countries in Europe and the Americas are studying Nordic languages with us.
Since 1981, we have been backed by over 40 years of experience in teaching languages and culture of the Nordic countries to adults.
