How We Work
Our Approach
The course development takes place in a high-quality online environment which, together with Institut Nòrdic’s methodology, creates optimal learning conditions. Online classes are always conducted live with the teacher, at a fixed established schedule and in small groups. The syllabus of our courses is general, and the materials we use, which are the most up-to-date, are the same ones used for teaching these languages within each of the Nordic countries. The class functions horizontally, without hierarchy, fostering inclusive and close communication. Students find individualized attention and a community of motivated peers in a pleasant environment.
Classes: speaking, clarifying and deepening
The courses place special emphasis on oral communication. Class time is used for speaking, clarifying doubts, learning grammar and vocabulary, as well as enriching cultural knowledge. Most exercises, texts, listening exercises, and grammar and vocabulary tests are done between classes, as guided by the teacher.
To learn well, assessment is continuous
To achieve lasting results and facilitate the consolidation of knowledge, assessment is continuous. The student’s work is evaluated throughout the course through tests, assignments, and group activities, avoiding intense study for a final exam. To certify their results, once the course is finished, if students meet the academic and attendance requirements (minimum 70%), they receive a certificate of level completion with a grade.
From support language to target language
As progress is made, from the first class, the use of the language being studied gradually increases (by both teachers and students) until the support language disappears from the classroom.
Flexible start dates
At Institut Nòrdic, we have courses that start at different times of the year. Additionally, we offer the possibility of joining courses that are already in progress* (this option is limited to availability and requires a prior level test with the language coordinator).
Group change
All our courses include the option to request, on a one-time or permanent basis, a change of group and/or course. This possibility is subject to the availability of groups and places and, in the case of a permanent group or level change, must be approved by the language coordinator.
Fluency and confidence
Our way of working and being is the philosophy of Institut Nòrdic, and it creates a beneficial environment for advancing, learning, and becoming a fluent and confident speaker of any Nordic language.
