GENERAL CONDITIONS FOR COURSES
Online Courses
Connection
Learning in optimal conditions requires a positive and open learning environment. Therefore, to attend the class you need an Internet connection, headphones and a camera. And it is important that the connection works.
The student is responsible for the functioning of his connection and equipment, which must be of sufficient quality to be able to attend the class without interruptions. In addition, the student must ensure that the sounds and images of the place from where he/she attends the class do not interfere with the teaching.
For our part, we guarantee that everything will be technically flawless. But even so, if something should happen, such as the Internet connection failing on the part of Institut Nòrdic, the class will be recovered by setting a new date. If it is the student’s connection that fails, for the proper functioning of the class, the student will have to leave the session.
Zoom
The online classes at Institut Nòrdic are taught through Zoom. This platform is essential for the functioning of the classes. A few days before the course starts, Institut Nòrdic provides students with the necessary links to access it. Students have to create their own user account on Zoom.
Educational and Management Platforms
Institut Nòrdic uses Google Classroom as an educational platform. In Classroom, students and teachers can share material, communicate, create and perform tasks. Its use is essential for the functioning of the classrooms. Students create their own user account with instructions provided by Institut Nòrdic.
Institut Nòrdic uses Atenea, developed by Ender Soluciones SL, as a database and for class attendance control and evaluation.
Evaluation and Certificate
Evaluation
It is important that the evaluation is fair and motivating. Therefore, our evaluation is continuous and with a final grade. Passing the course requires knowing the content, attending classes (minimum 70%), doing and handing in homework and taking all exams.
Attendance
It is mandatory to meet the minimum attendance of 70% to obtain the course certificate. Students who do not reach the minimum attendance will not have access to the final evaluation. Late arrivals and early departures from class also count when calculating final attendance.
Lack of active participation in the class will be considered as lack of attendance (not using microphone/camera, not answering the teacher’s questions, not participating in the subgroups, recurrent connection failures, etc.).
If you cannot attend class one day, you can request occasional attendance to another group (if there are more groups at your level). This option is always subject to availability and prior request to the teacher/language coordinator.
Certificates
Certificate with Grade
To obtain a certificate with a grade, it is necessary to:
- A minimum of 70% class attendance.
- Obtain at least a 5 as a final grade on a scale of 0 to 10.
- Complete all tests and quizzes.
- Submit the most important essays.
- Submit or present the required homework.
With the certificate, the student can move up to the next level. Institut Nòrdic does not reserve places. All students must register and pay for the course to guarantee their place. Groups are always subject to availability.
Certificate of Participation
If the student does not qualify for a certificate of completion, he/she is entitled to a certificate of participation from Institut Nòrdic. In this case, in order to proceed to the next level, he/she will have to contact the language manager and arrange a possible placement test.
