Official Swedish Exam
Swedex is the international Swedish exam organized by Folkuniversitetet and recognized by the Swedish Institute.
Swedex certifies Swedish language proficiency for non-native speakers.
We are an official Swedex examination center and have extensive experience in preparing our students to pass the exam tests.
A new Swedex format is available at Institut Nòrdic. Instead of the current exams (pass/fail), there will be two versions: an A2-B1 test and a B2-C1 test. Depending on the results of the test and the evaluation, the candidate will receive a Swedex certificate which can be from A1 level up to C1 level.
The test can be taken regardless of how you have learned Swedish.

General Exam Information
What does the test include?
The exam evaluates all language skills. The test consists of four parts:
- Reading Comprehension
- Listening Comprehension
- Writing Expression
- Oral Expression
It is necessary to complete all four parts of the test to obtain the certificate.
Can support materials/aids be used during the test?
No, the use of support materials is not allowed.
How long does it take to receive the certificate?
The certificate is sent approximately 3 weeks after the exam is corrected.
Information about Results
How is the test evaluated?
Each part is evaluated separately. In the reading and listening comprehension parts, the number of points determines the level. The written and oral expression parts are evaluated by examiners and scored according to specific evaluation criteria. An individual result is given for each part of the exam. The level can be different in each of the parts.
If each part can have a different level, what level certificate will I obtain?
The certificate is the result of the combined evaluation of the four parts of the test. It is always the lowest level that determines the overall evaluation.
Example: Listening comprehension C1 + Reading comprehension C1 + Written expression B2 + Oral expression C1 = B2 level certificate.
The candidate also receives a document showing the results of the various tests.
If I don’t get the expected result, can I repeat any parts of the exam?
As a new feature, with the new Swedex format, you can retake one part of the exam (restprov). This repetition must be done within six months following the original exam to be considered when issuing a certificate.
Example: a candidate obtains C1 level in all parts of the exam except for written expression, where they obtain B2 level. The candidate can repeat the written expression part of the exam and, if they obtain C1 level, then a C1 level Swedex certificate will be issued.
