Modality of the courses in Institut Nòrdic
At Institut Nòrdic we offer courses of different lengths starting throughout the academic year.
COURSES 32 sessions (1 class/week)
These are courses that take place over the course of an entire academic year. At Institut Nòrdic, these courses begin the first week of October and end in mid-June (approximately 9 months of classes).
During the course, classes are 1 hour and 45 minutes once a week, always at the same time, making it the ideal option to combine with full-time work and/or studies and other activities. Between sessions, students can organize their self-study time at home as they prefer.
Assessment is continuous, which reinforces the uninterrupted learning process and content assimilation, as well as achieving more lasting results.
Characteristics:
- 32 sessions of 1h 45min
- Duration October – June (1 session per week)
- Continuous assessment
- Small groups of 5-12 participants (maximum 8 at C1 level)
- Levels: from A1 to C1*, conversation and advanced courses
COURSES 32 sessions (2 classes/week)
The same formula as the 32-session courses from October to June but in half the time. These courses allow for combining two levels in one academic year, and two sessions are offered for each academic year: one from October to February and another from February to June.
During the course, classes are 1 hour and 45 minutes twice a week, always at the same time. The courses are organized so that upon completing one level, you can continue with the next at the same time and almost without interruption.
Assessment is continuous, which reinforces the uninterrupted learning process and content assimilation, as well as achieving more lasting results.
Characteristics:
- 32 sessions of 1h 45min
- Duration October – February and February – June (2 sessions per week)
- Continuous assessment
- Small groups (5-12 participants)
- Languages: Swedish and Norwegian.
22-SESSION COURSES January - June
These courses are equivalent to a 32-session course, but in a shorter version. At Institut Nòrdic, these courses begin in January and end in June of the same year (approximately 6 months).
During the course, classes are 1 hour and 45 minutes once a week, always at the same time, making it easily combinable with full-time work and/or studies and other activities. As it is a shorter course, the pace during classes is more intense, and requires students to work more at home between sessions.
Assessment is continuous, which reinforces the uninterrupted learning process and content assimilation, as well as achieving more lasting results.
These A1 level courses allow for connection with the intensive summer A2 level courses, making it possible to obtain both levels in just over 6 months.
Characteristics:
- 22 sessions of 1h 45min
- Duration January – June (1 session per week)
- Continuous assessment
- Small groups (5-12 participants)
- Level: A1 in Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish. The Finnish A1 course has 26 sessions.
20-SESSION INTENSIVE COURSES
These courses are indicated for those who want to advance quickly with the basis of a Nordic language and make the most of their time. It is the most intensive course modality in Institut Nòrdic, since a level is completed in 4 weeks. Therefore, the feeling of immersion in the language is very high, which makes them an excellent option for beginner levels A1 and A2.
During the course, classes are 1 hour and 45 minutes every day (Monday to Friday) at the same time. Due to the characteristics and high pace of the course, it is necessary for students to be able to dedicate self-study time at home between sessions.
Like other courses, assessment is continuous, which reinforces the uninterrupted learning process and content assimilation, as well as achieving more lasting results.
Once an intensive course has been completed, it is possible to continue with a course of the next level.
Characteristics:
- 20 sessions of 1h 45min
- Duration: 4 weeks
- Continuous assessment
- Small groups (5-12 participants)
- Levels: A1 and A2 of Swedish, Norwegian, and Danish. A1.1 and A1.2 of Finnish.
